Swansea and Gower life

Swansea and Gower Life

Ask anyone about the atmosphere in Swansea, and they’ll tell you – it’s buzzing. But just on the doorstep, the electricity of city life ebbs away and the Gower coastline and countryside unfolds. Come and explore this very special balance for yourself.

Natural beauty and outdoors

The Gower Peninsula is one of Europe’s, if not the world’s most beautiful coastlines. There is mile after mile of unspoilt beaches and coastline path to explore and sea to fish - and no trip should be without a visit to the charming village of Mumbles.

For the more adventurous the Gower area offers countless opportunities for climbing and cycling, as well as sailing, with a base at Swansea marina.

Shopping and nightlife

Social thrill seekers can get their fill in Swansea too, in the bustling bars, pubs and clubs that line Wind Street, as well as the new Aspers casino. You’ll be spoilt for choice of stylish cuisine, particularly at SA1, which is home to a variety of café bars.

The fun needn’t stop in the daytime either, with a fast-expanding shopping centre offering both major national chains and some fascinating and charming local, independent stores.

Sports and culture

The Swansea and Gower area is hosting major international sporting events in the near future, and boasts a fantastic new National Swimming Pool. Wales Rally GB and Escape in the Park are taking place here, and in 2010 The Ryder Cup Wales takes place just along the M4. Closer to home, Swansea City FC and the Ospreys give sports fans plenty to cheer about.

On a cultural note, there is also plenty to explore. Visit the old haunts of one the 20th century’s greatest poets, Dylan Thomas, tour the University and National Waterfront Museum, or take a stroll around Clyne Gardens.

The area offers hotel accommodation to suit all budgets, so come down and discover Swansea and Gower life.
